STAMFORD - Thursday Jan. 19

Stamford is England's first conservation town, therefore no extreme modern development in the town centre and everything looks old. It was here they used one of the streets as the town of Meryton in Jane Austen's recent Pride and Prejudice. The town is only 19 000, and the only bus out was at 7:20pm. Thank goodness the arts centre was open where we sat for 2 hours falling asleep in their art exhibition. Thankfully no one kicked us out, and no one came in. We just spent the day walking around town and then to Burghley House, which was used as Lady Catherine DeBurgh's mansion in Pride and Prejudice as well. It was stunning, probably would have been more stunning had it not been for the cold, miserable weather. WE also had to carry out large backpacks around all day which added to our tiredness. All in all, sweet place with some very friendly people.

What the entire town looked like! So cute!
